Matt Eckert

Matt Eckert

Matt was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and did most of his fishing on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. In 2008 Matt moved to South Florida and wasted no time transitioning into the world of Saltwater Fishing! What Matt is most known for is his epic adventure in April 2014 during the EKFT “Battle in Bahamas” where he hooked an estimated 400-500 pound Blue Marlin on spinning tackle. He was pulled over 30 miles during the 11-hour battle! I don’t know of too many guides that can say they have done that! Matt’s years of local knowledge and experience fishing along the Southeast coast of Florida makes him one of the most verse kayak anglers around.

Eric McDonald

Eric McDonald

Eric is originally from Detroit, Michigan. He grew up fishing for Pike, Trout, Salmon, and Walleye. He decided to move to sunny Florida in 2007 and started kayak fishing right away. On a solo offshore kayak fishing trip in 2017, he landed the largest kayak Yellowfin Tuna to ever be recorded in Southeast Florida. Eric also took 2nd place in the EKFT "Battle in Bahamas" Saltwater World Championship in 2015.

XTR Fishing Charters

Cory L. Elder

I grew up fishing various inland lakes and river systems in Western Pennsylvania. As a teenager, I traveled along the East Coast while competing in several bass tournament trials. From there, I fell in love with the Great Lakes region and acquired a multi-species perspective. This opened many doors for me in the fishing industry. With over a decade of time spent on Lake Erie, I continue to learn and help others. When I realized I wanted more, I evolved my fishing hobby into a career. Resigning from my previous career in the Physical Therapy field was the hardest part of beginning my new life as a career fisherman. Guiding full time on Lake Erie is where my passion to help others has driven me. I thoroughly enjoy watching a beginner or long time angler come aboard my boat and make lifelong memories. We have since purchased Erie Fishing Charters and continue our name of XTR Fishing Charters. Excited to see what the future holds. We are excited to be in partnership with Fishing Online!

Pete Cartwright

Pete Cartwright

I am a fully insured and licensed fishing guide in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania specializing in smallmouth bass wading trips in Western P.A. on the Youghiogheny River and Allegheny River and tributaries using artificial baits. My primary focus is to educate my clients on the most effective tactics used to catch and safely release smallmouth bass and other game species we may encounter during our trip. I know how and where to put you on fish, but in the end, it's your trip, and I'll do my best to accommodate your requests. These trips are catch and release only with barbless hooks and artificial lures only no exceptions

Pete has been fishing the Youghiogheny River for the past 33 years learning every riffle, eddy and current seam from Connellsville to McKeesport. Averaging 120 days on the water for the last 12 years he knows the river well. Along with his knowledge of the Yough he has also been fishing the Allegheny River and its tributaries for the last 30 years in search of bronze. He has been teaching people how, when, and where to fish the entire time he has been fishing. He has won awards from Berkley, In-Fisherman, and has been in fishing articles from Bass Angler Magazine, Pittsburgh Tribune, and North American Fisherman speaking on smallmouth bass in rivers.

I’m a full-time guide on world-famous Lake Fork. After college, I moved from Kentucky to Texas with a 10-foot jon boat in the back of my pickup truck, and a dream to make a living bass fishing.
I’ve been guiding on Lake Fork for almost 10 years now. I’m blessed to get to do what I truly love to do for a living. I owe my success to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and all the kind people who have helped me along the way.
